Trends in the dairy market in Ukraine.
Milk season in Ukraine is rising. Domestic sales are not high. Many manufacturers will continue to focus on exports. Ukrainian exports of dairy products is growing. Export prices are rising.
Prices for raw milk are declining. The total production of raw milk fell by 0.6%, compared to 2016. Total number of cows in Ukraine reduced by 2.6% compared to 2016.
The Ukrainian butter market began to recover in comparison to previous months. Butter with a fat content of 72.5% is sold mainly on the domestic market (our domestic sales show that 95% of butter is 72.5% fat). Butter with a fat content of 82% is sold almost exclusively for export. World butter prices continue to
rise. Ukrainian prices in comparison with the World seem to be low. In April, 1.85 thousand tons of butter was exported from Ukraine, a record number from 2014.
In the last few weeks, casein price has changed significantly. The price has risen by $ 300. In the middle of the month, the price of Ukrainian casein was 5200-5600 dollars per ton. In April, casein export in Ukraine grew by 10%, to 380 tons. The largest export market for Ukrainian casein is Poland, 69%.
Our production in April
May - June is expected to be the highest season for raw milk supply. Correspondingly, the volume of dairy production will increase compared to previous months. It is expected to export more than 2000 tons of butter from Ukraine, mainly to Middle
East. It is expected that caseine sales will reach 1 thousand tons per month.
