General Information

The raw milk quantity decreases and its price increases. The export market is not favorable for Ukrainian producers, demand and prices are low. The situation on the domestic market has improved.

Raw milk - trends

As expected, the raw material market in the second half of November was stable and calm. The average price from farms in November was 0.34 USD per kg.

Butter

The promising (in the first half of the year) butter market has disappointed Ukrainian exporters this year, demand and price is low at the end of the year. In spite of falling external demand and large stocks in warehouses, Ukrainian producers remained quite active because they need to process cream. Butter with a fat content of 72.5% is exported for 3400-3600 USD per ton. Butter with a fat content of 82% is sold on average 3700-3900 USD per ton.

Casein

Casein season is over. Now this product is produced only by about five producers. In November, about 300 tons of casein were produced in Ukraine. Despite this, traders do not accept price increase and continue to buy Ukrainian casein at 5000-5200 USD per ton.

Our forecast for September

In December, the raw milk market is expected to be stable and calm. The raw milk price should remain at the same level. Most likely, only three casein producers will remain producing in Ukraine. Despite the low demand and unfavorable conditions for the Ukrainian export, butter sales growth is expected ahead of New Year holidays. The butter price will increase in connection with the demand. Despite the martial law, export sales continue.
