General Information
In June, raw milk producers earned 48% more than last year. This suggests that raw material prices remain high. Ukrainian producers earn mainly on exports, as demand in the domestic market is low.
Raw milk trends
Prices for raw milk are 40% higher compared to the same period last year. In the first half of the year, the production of raw milk in Ukraine decreased by 0.9% compared to 2016. The dynamics of the number of cows also does not show positive dynamics, at the end of June in Ukraine there is 2.5% less cows than in the past year.
Butter
The price of butter in June has grown. Butter with a fat content of 72.5% is sold for export at a price of 3700-3900 dollars per ton. Butter with a fat content of more than 82% is sold an average of 4500 dollars per ton. Butter prices have had a negative impact on domestic consumption, demand has declined substantially. Butter production in the first half of 2017 grew by 6% compared with 2016, while exports increased 3-fold. In June, 3700 tons of butter was exported.
Casein
June was a successful month for Ukrainian casein manufacturers.
Production of casein remained at a high level, in June exports of a record amount of casein, 1200 tons.
The export price was on average 5,800-6,000 dollars per ton. Basically casein is sold to Poland and Germany, 85%.

Our forecast
In July, the price of raw materials is expected to rise. Butter prices remain at the same level as in June. Butter exports will remain at the same level as in June. Expected price for casein is 4700-4900 dollars per ton.
