General Information
Dairy producers began to sum up 2017 year in December. There is an opinion among experts, that Ukrainian raw milk producers earned a profit of 35% more in 2017 than in the previous year. In general, 2017 can be considered successful for dairy business in Ukraine, but still far from ideal. Dairy producers are waiting for state support in 2018.
Raw milk - trends
Raw milk prices in December remained at the same level. On average, raw milk price reached 0,38 USD / Kg. Milk farms increased supply by 1.9% compared to the same perioud in 2016. The cows’ number in Ukraine decreased by 1.8% compared with 2016.
Butter
World prices for butter continue to decrease. Butter with a fat content of 72.5% is exported for 3600-3900 US dollars per ton. Butter with a fat content of 82% is sold on average 4200-4500 dollars per ton. The main countries for exporting butter in Ukraine are Morocco and Turkey. In total, during the year, approximately 27 000 tons of butter was exported from Ukraine, with 82% fat.
Casein
The casein season in Ukraine is almost over. There is still some casein in the warehouses of Ukrainian producers. The price for Ukrainian casein in December was 5200-5500 USD per ton. 69% of Ukrainian casein was exported to Poland.

Our forecast
The raw milk price is likely to remain at the same level. Butter prices will stabilize. January is full of holidays in Ukraine, therefore the business activity will be low.
