General Information

Dairy products’ sales in Ukraine are rapidly falling. The main reason for this is raw materials’ price increase. But it looks like the price has already reached its maximum. The profitability of dairy products producers is close to zero. The milk consumption in comparison with 2016 decreased by 5%.

Raw milk - trends

In the second half of October, raw materials’ market looks stable. On average, raw milk is sold at 0.37 USD / Kg. The raw milk supply increased by 3.5% over the past 9 months compared with 2016. In November, raw materials prices is not expected to increase.

Butter

Export prices for Ukrainian butter began to decrease. Butter with a fat content of 72.5% is exported for 4000-4200 US dollars per ton. Butter with a fat content of more than 82% is sold on average 4500-4700 dollars per ton. In the past month, Butter production decreased by 6% compared to the previous one. In October, production continued to decline. The butter price on the Ukrainian market has risen.

Casein

Casein production has almost ended in Ukraine. One of the main reasons was the decrease in air temperature. Also important role was played by a reduction in the price, 5400-5600 dollars per ton.

Our forecast

Raw milk price should not increase in November . Butter production will decrease. In November, only a few producers will remain on the casein market. In Ukraine, the demand for fresh dairy products on the domestic market should increase.
