General Information

July was not better than June for Ukrainian dairy producers. Consumption in the Ukraine domestic market remains low. Export prices and demand for Ukrainian goods abroad also did not change. Prices for raw milk remained at the same level as in
June.

Raw milk - trends

In July, raw milk prices did not change compared to June. Such situation has not been observed for a long time. The raw milk amount began to decrease. The average price from farms in July was 0.32 USD per kg.

Butter

Despite the tendency to decrease the butter production, the price for Ukrainian butter has not increased. The main factor that influence this this is butter excess on the Belarus market. Butter with a fat content of 72.5% is exported for 3400-3600 USD per ton. Butter with a fat content of 82% is sold on average 4000-4300 USD per ton. To the European Union countries such butter can be sold on average 4700-4800 USD per ton.

Casein

In the first half of the year, 3800 tons of casein was produced in Ukraine , which is 12% more compared to the last year. In July, the price of Ukrainian casein decreased in comparison with June. The price for casein was close to 5000-5400 USD per ton.

Our forecast for August

In August, the raw milk volume is expected to decrease. The raw milk price will increase. The consumption of fresh dairy products in Ukraine will seasonally increase. The amount of casein production will be decrease as in July. Despite the trends in the world market, the price of Ukrainian butter will remain at the same level, perhaps in late August, maybe, we can expect a slight increase.
